Eminence Dance Company's competition teams are unique. We have one try out at the start of summer, but because of our intimate team sizes, we are always accepting separate personal tryouts throughout the year. (Here for more Information)
We have 2 major recitals during the year, our Fall Showcase and Spring End Of Year Recital, with Competition teams breaking their year into three sections:
Spring season, Summer season, Fall season.
During the summer season, we have our main tryout, seasonal professional teachers, our intensive, and our dance camp, along with tons of parties, masterclasses and video shoots. This part of the season is to prep the girls for the rest of the year and to get them ready for Fall Show and Competitions. Throughout this season they will prepare and choreograph for their fall show. In August they will have Dance Camp where they will learn all competition routines.
During the fall season our students will finish setting and learning their dances for the fall show. This show extremely special to us because our own students get to choreograph dances, be leaders and direct a dance number and perform them in a grand show at real theater. The show is one of the staffs favorite times of the year because we get to watch our students come up with an idea, explore it and bring it to life. After the show, our amazing videographer picks a few dance numbers and we film them on a professional set the last few weeks before Christmas break.
In this session our students will finish learning cleaning their routines and solos and preparing full gear for competitions. For competition they will do 2-4 competition with routines in Jazz, Hip Hop, and Contemporary/Lyrical styles. Your student will be encouraged to compete in a solo or duo however its not mandatory for our 4 local competitions. We also compete in 1 out of state optional competition each season for solists and one specialty team routine.
